Whether you have an indoor or outdoor cat, it is important to vaccinate your feline
It is important to vaccinate your cat, even if they don't go outside. If your indoor cat eats a bug, or accidently gets outside, they have the risk of contracting a zoonotic disease (see zoonotic diseases for more information). Some vaccinations include:
rabies
FVRCP (prevents against 3 highly contagious diseases)
Feline Leukemia
Cat bites tend to go from harmless to bad very quickly. Their needle like teeth often penetrate skin, and saliva can easily become infected. It is a similar story with cat scratches. However, bites are not the only way cats can transmit a zoonotic disease. If a cat sleeps on your pillow, or licks your face, a zoonotic disease can be transmitted.
Along with vaccinations, cat bites can be easily prevented by knowing your furry feline. If you know your cat isn't friendly with other cats, or people, make sure your guests or people who may want to touch your furry friend are aware of this.
Does your cat ever eat a bug? Certain bugs can be carry diseases that spreads to cats, and then can spread to humans. So even if your furry friend stays indoors, vaccinating them is sill a good idea. Not only will it prevent diseases from something they could eat, but if your cat ever does go outside, then they will be protected from diseases they could encounter.
